Page 1 of Non Scart TV

I think this is possible but I have only ever seen this on one website....

If you have a TV with no scart, s-video, or phono inputs can you connect up a DVD player through the normal ariel input (UHF? I don`t know if that is the technical term for it )

I think I have seen a lead on a website once that converts s-video to the ariel type input but it seems pretty rare.

Anybody know if this is possible?

Have you got a video player with a scart socket ? As far as im aware you can use that to convert the signal ( Ive not physically tried it but theroetically it should be possible )

Errr.... sorry? So, how do you record terrestrial TV without a RF (aerial) lead?

OK. I think my post was a bit confusing (not knowing all the technical terms doesn`t help! LOL)

My situation is this.

I have a TV with only an RF (normal ariel) input socket (there is no scart or phono or S-video inputs).
I have a vcr with only an RF input socket but with RF and SCART outputs.
I have a DVD player with Scart, phono, and S-Video video outputs.

I need to connect the DVD to the TV but I don`t know if I can.
Any ideas?

Are you SURE you don`t have some inputs you can`t see ?
Either a round s-video socket or three coloured composite plugs ?
Under a flap on the front maybe ?
I`ve never ever seen a telly with as few sockets as you describe, and that includes old tellys ( 10+ years ) and portables.
If what you say is true, I`d be careful not to drop it and claim for a new one off your home contents insurance, coz that would be awful.

I have had the telly a long time and it is a portable.
In fact it is probably ten years old...
I think I might have to get a new one (unless anyone on here can recommend a solution) shame really as it is a good picture and still looks quite nice...

You "Can" buy converters but i wouldnt recommend it - you "Will" loose clarity and there Not cheap - expect to pay around £50. Personally if buget permits get a new TV - a 28" widescreen is only £199 now a days !

Let me know if you need a link to a converter - but its not the best option imho

I dare say there may be a workable solution, but connecting your DVD to this TV would be a terrible waste of it`s capabilities.Like having a tremendous hifi and using rubbish speakers.
I don`t know your TV budget situation but the likes of Unbeatable.co.uk will sell you any kind of TV you want on zero percent finance, as long as you pay it within a year.
I can`t recommend them high enough. Miles cheaper than the high street AND zero percent finance. It`s like heaven for electrical junkies.

The link to where I can get a convertor would be great... but they do sound expensive. Nearly as cheap to buy a new TV .....
