RE: NTL Digital - optical output?

BOO! that sucks.
Thanks for the response though!

Do any of the cable or satelitte providors have digital outputs?

NTL Digital - optical output?

Does anybody know if the set top box that you get with NTL cable has an optical output?
I was thinking about getting it but if I do I want to hook it up to my Amp....

Does anybody know?

Thanks

RE: 9-pin socket on old ferguson TV. What is it?

It is pretty ancient but it does have an IR remote so I don`t know if it is that.

I don`t know the model.
I will try and find out. Thanks for your replies!

9-pin socket on old ferguson TV. What is it?

A friend has an old ferguson TV and on the back it has a 9pin socket. It is round and a little larger than an s-video input. but I just don`t know what it is....

Anybody got any ideas?

RE: HELP - Connections!!!!!!

1)plug sky box into input scart on video.
2)Video out scart to 1st TV scart

3)DVD into second scart on TV.

Sky and video will be on AV1.
DVD on AV2.

If you don`t like that set-up then put the DVD into the video instead of the skybox.

This should work fine plus if you choose the first route you can then record sky.

I think that is right anyway.....

RE: Aiwa reliabilty

So I went for the Aiwa anyway.
I got it for £240 and for that price It is great.
Pucture quality is good and sound fantastic.
I am a little disapointed with the CD playback but it is certainly good enough for my limited listening.

Only time will tell if it is reliable or not.....

RE: Non Scart TV

OK so I got the DVD player and a VH89W Universal Modulator from Maplins.
It works great! A little bit of tweaking and it works really well.

It cost £25 but that is a lot cheaper than £200 for a new TV.
thanks a lot for all your help.

RE: Non Scart TV

Great thanks Dave!
I found this site http://hometheater.about.com/library/weekly/aa020402a.htm
Which tells you all about it!

RE: Non Scart TV

GSM,
The link to where I can get a convertor would be great... but they do sound expensive. Nearly as cheap to buy a new TV .....

Thanks everyone for all your help.

RE: Non Scart TV

I have had the telly a long time and it is a portable.
In fact it is probably ten years old...
I think I might have to get a new one (unless anyone on here can recommend a solution) shame really as it is a good picture and still looks quite nice...

RE: Non Scart TV

OK. I think my post was a bit confusing (not knowing all the technical terms doesn`t help! LOL)

My situation is this.

I have a TV with only an RF (normal ariel) input socket (there is no scart or phono or S-video inputs).
I have a vcr with only an RF input socket but with RF and SCART outputs.
I have a DVD player with Scart, phono, and S-Video video outputs.

I need to connect the DVD to the TV but I don`t know if I can.
Any ideas?

RE: Non Scart TV

My video only has scart out and no inputs at all ....
:(
Any other ideas?

Non Scart TV

I think this is possible but I have only ever seen this on one website....

If you have a TV with no scart, s-video, or phono inputs can you connect up a DVD player through the normal ariel input (UHF? I don`t know if that is the technical term for it )

I think I have seen a lead on a website once that converts s-video to the ariel type input but it seems pretty rare.

Anybody know if this is possible?

Thanks a lot.

RE: Aiwa reliabilty

Thanks for the tip gregg.
Anybody else had any experience with Aiwa?

RE: <<Who is the crappest actor/actress in Eastenders??!!>>

Big Mo is the worst by a long shot.

It is like panto in their house.

"she`s behind you!"

Aiwa reliabilty

I am just getting into home cinema and have been looking round all in one systems.
Aiwa ht-dv90 seems to fit the bill for what I want but I have some reservations over long term reliabilty of Aiwas.

Has anybody else had similar experiences or have I just been unlucky?
Any comments on the ht-dv90.

Thanks a lot in advance!
