Page 1 of Smallest Widescreen TV

Hi

Need a widescreen TV for a bedroom, so just wondering at what size they start at. Is it 24" or can you get a slightly smaller one? Bit smaller would be better. Also whats the cheapest place to get one. Am I better off buying online than say Dixons?

I believe Sony once did a 20", any ideas if I can get it anywhere, or are there any other options. LCD isn`t an option, too pricey.

Don`t know about the size. But regarding buying online I`ve used www.qed-uk.com quite a few times, they`re reliable, cheap and run by Miller Bros (far cheaper than the m. bros site tho`)

If you buy from other sites make sure that the price includes VAT and watch out for the delivery charges, some sites claim to be cheap and then whack £40 on for delivery.

I think your stuck with 24" for a CRT TV. I have not seen any smaller.

Your only option is the LCD but is out of your budget. Panasonic do a 15" w/s LCD for £900 and Grundig do a 17" w/s LCD for £799. Pricey I know, but thats your only options I`m afraid.

If you are to get a 24" CRT you will find a better deal online. 9/10 times I will purchase electrical goods online as you can generally find a bigger saving.

Got a 28" at the moment in the bedroom and it`s far too big. Will a 24" be much better? Obviously it`s 4inches not as wide. is there much difference in how deep they are, as that`s half the problem of the 28, it`s so deep.

I don`t think there will be much difference in the depth. I have a 24" JVC telly, and its not much shallower (is that a word?) than my 32" Toshiba.

Sony did bring out a portable (about 17") widescreen tv some years ago but i`ve not seen it for a while. Try asking a retailer like dixons or comet, they normally have a list of the products they can get.

The only thing I remember about that is that it was far too expensive! People in the market for a portable generally don`t want to pay several hundred pounds for the privilege.

If someone can come up with a 16 inch widescreen portable, with integrated DTT tuner, and sell it for under £100, I`m sure it would go like hot cakes. I think we`re a couple of years away from that being a possibility, though.

I saw that wee Sony widescreen once, in a kebab shop of all places !
It was extremely cool.
The first person to come out with an affordable small widesreen TV,with at least nicam stereo, will clean up.
£100 is a tad optimistic though, unless it`s of dubious manufacture.
