Page 1 of Help! - My Wharfedale DVD0750 has stopped playing VCDs

as the title says, before Christmas I was happily playing Shrek VCD for my kids (original not pirate).

Now the machine won`t play and VCDs, DVDs are fine, but it struggles with some Audio CDs.

any ideas or help?

This morning I have done a search of the HARDWARE forum.

It looks like several of you had this problem with the 750 last year, resolutions including using a CD LENS Cleaner. Did this work?

If not, any other solutions, except getting the laser re-aligned, which isn`t worth the cost!

Try a lens cleaner first, but I found the only way to sort mine out was to take the cover off, locate the lens (on the disc transport) and clean it by hand. I used nail polish remover, but apparently plain old water is as good as anything. The cotten bud came up filthy and all my problems were solved.
No trouble since.
