WHAT?! Have Philips started making their TVs without an S-Video connection??
Hello all - I`ve just been in Currys looking at the 32" widescreen TVs, and noticed that the (newish) Philips PW6506 hasn`t got an S-Video connection. I looked around and noticed that quite a few of the newer Philips models don`t have an S-Video connection either (it used to be on the side). So I asked a bloke from the store and he said that Philips have stopped making TVs with the S-Video connection, as the picture quality isn`t any better than the basic connection!? Does anybody know anything about this??
CHEERS!

Yeah I noticed this when I bought my 6006 a year ago( I wrongly asumed there would be one there). The previous model to the 6006 did have the S-vid socket at the side. Basically your left with one less AV channel than you should have...does this mean Philips are cost cutting on the entry level tv`s?

Given the amount of people who have had problems with phillips sets, I`d say they are definately cutting costs.

Do you realise you can get s-video through the scart?

Yeah you`re right Micoman, you can get s-vid through scart 2, but we were just saying that newer tv`s are omitting an extra socket.

I currently have an "all-in-one" home cinema (no scart) connected to my tv by an s-video lead.
So you guys are saying if I get one of these new Philips models, I can still get an s-video picture through the scart socket (using an s-video to scart lead)?? This would be great as I lreally like the look/features of the new PW6506!!
Cheers!

Yeah, scart 2 on philips sets, that have only 2 scart sockets, are usually set up for s-vid, so you`ll be okay.
