Hi Mark
Thanks for the interest!
This could be long!
Sat 30th I ordered it via "National No." They had found one somewhere. To be delivered Friday 5th Jan.
Paper work came thru this week confirming everything.
Phoned on the 4th, all fine will be delivered on 5th bfore 1pm.
Friday 5th, no Aiwa.
Contacted Comet, its not going to be delivered (no stock).
My wife waited in and I am fuming!
I told em that they can phone up my local branch (Barnstaple) and tell em that I can have the display model and 10% discount (for shop soilage).
After 12 calls! to the "National No." I left a message for a member of management.
Sat AM, management phoned - "We apologise" they said
I said you will have to do better than that, I have stated what I want the Barnstaple Branch display model with discount
In the end I got it with 10% off and £5 towards phone calls.
Comet are the pits, they are lucky they got any money out of me!
But..... the 370 is prob the best budget player and very very scarce.
Yeah its really good, better than the Wharfedale, I returned.
Zoom is rubbish though!
How bout you?

Hey Mark read above!
RE: Orac, how`s it going?
Glad to hear you finally got one!
Yep, mine`s well and truly settled into its surroundings now. All I`ve got to do now is buy some DVDs! Renting and borrowing off mates is fine but...you know what I mean.
I`ve got High Fidelity on its way from Canada (hopefully!). Although I haven`t tried the region-hack yet...maybe I`m tempting fate, having bought before trying! Have you got it sorted yet?
I`m trying desperately to budget for a Digital Surround setup now - just been to Richer sounds and have got an idea of how to start. Might wait until my next bank statement comes through - I owed some dosh to my sister that I`d forgotten about, so recalculation is called for, unfortunately!
I think I`ll post a new thread asking for opinions on my idea for setting this up.
Cheers
Mark

Region hack worked no problem, i borrowed a region 1 disk from a friend and it worked fine.
Where are you ordering from? I had a look at dvdboxoffice (canada) and may give that a go, just order 1 disk (its free postage) at a time, if you go over £17/£18 you may get stung by customs, i did once it was 8 quid to pay!
I have no manual (co**t are getting one, yeah right!), I seemed to have most of it sussed - but I have asked Jimbo a few questions via email and he is obviously very knowledgable!

RE: Orac, how`s it going?(in MY opinion - you have had your say guys(again and again and again...))
orac,
excuse me butting in on your "conversation" but what was that about customs doing you for one disk?
I was under the impression that goods of a value of up to £50 were generally left alone.
I haven`t yet ventured into the world of importing disks yet so any recommendations would be welcome
cheers

Hello Kuat
Well i ordered (a while ago - say about 10 months) from cd now, it was cds, to the value of I think £30, and I got a customs charge of about £8!!
I phoned customs and asked them why, they sent a thick booklet, with loads of waffle, but basically it says that if you spend around the value of £17/£18 on products (don`t think it inc. shipping costs), then you are liable to customs charges.
I reckon it could be "random", but be careful or your bargain purchase may not be so cheap.
At Play247.com you will not get a customs charge (they gurantee it), prob. `cos they are based in Jersey.

Hi Orac,
Yep - also ordered from DVD Boxoffice - still waiting.
I got an email from them (my second one, a few days ago) saying something like "see this as a shipping notice".
Still waiting...
