Watching Sky on another tv in the house using the tv link gadget?

Are these tv link gadgets you can buy from Sky any good...and how do you connect them?

As you have probably guessed I (girlfriend, actually) want the option of watching Sky in another room without buying another box etc.

Yup - I use one. I think you can get them cheaper in Maplins than from Sky direct.

All it is is an infrared receiver that is connected to your box via the second aerial (coaxial) socket on the back. It enables you to change channels from another room by picking up the signal from the remote and sending it down the aerial lead to the box.

If you just wanna watch Sky on another tv you don`t need one, all you need is to run an aerial lead from the box to another tv and tune in the tv.

Jules, I am very interested in what you say about watching sky on another T.V. This is what I want to do. Is it a special lead and does it have to have a scart on the end. Also would the quality be as good as from the original source.

Barry,
All you need is normal co-ax cable (some say the `better` co-ax but I haven`t) and the normal aerial connectors either end which, I think, the kit came with.
You need to enable power to the tv2 outlet in the service menu but you are told how to do this - just a menu change.
There are no scarts or anything and I can`t see any loss of picture.
And you can change channel from the other room through the little `magic-eye`.
