Logix 3000 / Scan 2000

MartinG (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 12th January 2001, 11:18

Are they much the same? Logix going for £144.99 at bigsave.com, some £30 cheaper than Scan. Both play MP3s, which is one feature I need. Both are black, both multi-region. Not sure about no. of Scarts: Scan has 2, don`t know about Logix.
Now I know that some will say go for a Sony, Aiwa, Pioneer etc. but I don`t want to spend more than £200 (absolute max.) £150 would be even better.
Is there a better machine that is:
1. Multi region
2. Plays MP3
3. Black
4. Under £200 ?

The Logix is not supported by any manufacturer as far as I know - I think it was the same machine as the Manhattan (i.e. in terms of front panel design) but possibly older inferior hardware.

SCAN 2000 = LOGIX 3000 = MANHATTAN.

Thanks. Plenty of mixed comments on this site about the Scan 2000, and lots of good reviews in the DVD press (a few bad ones as well I think), but not much on the Logix 3000. Anyone got one? Any feedback on after sales service? Has it got 2 Scarts? What`s it like playing audio CDs/MP3s?

I had a Logix 3000 briefly (2 days) from Richer Sounds - the machine looked the part in the manual, and played MP3s and video CDs brilliantly unfortunately it didn`t really like DVDs that much - Gladiator jumped all over the place and the machine locked up a lot needing you to switch it on or off again to get the disk out! I took it back and got a refund. I`m now the happy owner of a Aiwa 370 - lucky purchase considering the problems people seem to be having getting hold of them!. As for the Logix it may have just been that one, they didn`t have an others in stock to swap it for. It is also unsupported by LG - so no firmware upgrades...I can only suggest that if you are going to buy one make sure you can get a refund if you`re not satisfied...

I thought that the Logix 3000 was a clone of an LG machine (at least it said `made by LG` on the packaging of one that I saw).

I have the logix 3000 and am pleased with it.
The DVD play back is good. the video and sound are crisp and clear.
almost every disk i have put in has played with out any glitches. including the matrix, fight club, and the toy story box set all knowen to show up problem players. The RCE disk X-men will also play back with a little work. by entering the loop hole menu and seting the player to region 1 insted of multi region. VCD & SVCD play back is very good. Every MP3 disk i have put in plays. although it is some time hard to find the track your after due to the way it displays file names.
every brand of CDR and CDRW i have tried worked with it.
even one that was written badly and would not read on my CDRW drive.
The only bug i have with my player is that subtitles are on every time the player is started up (once you turn the off they stay off untill the next time you start it up). it has 1 scart.
and if you want to know who make it try looking here and see what you think http://www.azuda.com/prod01.htm
