SONY DVP735 / REGION 2 SO WHY NTSC PLAYBACK ? CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN

I HAVE JUST ORDERED THE ABOVE MACHINE , YET TO ARRIVE.
I AM NOT THAT BOTHERED ABOUT GETTING REGION 1 DISCS, BUT I HAVE RELATIVES IN THE US SO THIS MAY BE AN OPTION IN THE FUTURE. BUT COULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE MACHINE BEING ABLE TO PLAYBACK NTSC (REGION 1) WHEN IT IS A REGION 2 MACHINE (PAL).

HAVE I GOT THIS ALL WRONG.
HELP.

Japan = Region 2 as well, they require the NTSC output.

BTW the CAPS LOCK key has a purpose......

I bet the film studios wish that they had put Japan in with them in R1 then we could not convert our players to R1 because we wouldn`t have NTSC.
