New player around the £300 mark?

Codmate (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 4th July 2003, 17:03

OK - since nobody can help me with my NAD problem I`m in the market for a new player.

What would people recommend for around the £300 mark?

I don`t care where I buy it from, I`m quite happy to go the mail-order or Richer Sounds route to get a better unit for the money.

My main concern is good audio and picture quality.
I don`t need it to play many formats - just CD`s and DVD`s.

I want it to do DVD`s very well indeed though - picture and sound quality are paramount - I couldn`t care less about `features`.

I have a 28" widescreen JVC TV in case anybody knows of compatibility issues with some players (although the TV seems fine with everything I throw at it).

Cheers =)

Have you considered getting a dvd recorder ? as they are now within this price bracket and the picture quality on playback is very very good on the two machines that i`ve tried (phillips 880 & panasonic dmr-e30)
