New widescreen tv

soulman_uk (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 5th July 2003, 11:16

Hi all,

Have finally decided on taking the plunge no not getting married but decided to get a new widescreen tv :-)

Had a look around a few websites anyone recommend and reputable websites for widescreen tv`s.

Got aout £800 to play with and hoping to get something in 32" :-)

My main use for it will be to watch dvd`s. Just wondering is it worth getting a 100hz or sticking with a ordinary 50hz tv. Is there a noticeable difference, worth the extra money?

This is pretty much what i`m after:

32in 100HZ Flatscreen TV
Nicam stereo
Stand
2 or 3 scarts
NTSC compatible
and hte usual standard features.

any addresses of places would be really great.

Cheers
Have a good saturday all

hey all,

thanks for the info. Been checking those sites and seen some nice tv`s. But being a little wet behind the ear I was wondering if its not to much trouble if someone could recommend a widescreen tv for me. I basically got about £600 pushable to £700 and want a 32" 100hz, basic features and will not give me any problems when watching regeion 1 dvds.

Just a quick note not sure if spending the extra on a 100hz is worth it if my main use is watching dvd`s? feel free to drop me some advice on this. I will be using it for sky as well.

I`m going tv blind looking at tv`s any help would be great :-)

So guys gals which should I go for :-)

If you really are looking for a good TV. Go for a Loewe, but 32 inch you may have to pay that much extra. £900 by looking at www.dealtime.co.uk , but will be about £1500 in the shops.

Also you will find that Dixons and Currys dont do them. Because Loewe standards won`t accept.
The picture is great on Loewe`s. Superb televisions.
Anyway to check one out before you buy goto www.loewe.de and go to stockists and do a search for the ones in your area. Maybe about 2 to 3 dealers in each area, thats how selective they are to who can sell them. Easy way to find one is that House of Frasers stores are one selected dealer.
Anyway go and have a look at the picture on them, you will not be dissapointed.

House of Fraiser stores are doing the Panasonic TX32PL1 for £599 in their sale. It`s only a 50Hz set but the reviews in various magazines are very good. If you open an account and buy it on a Saturday you also get another 5% off and a voucher for £15 in September. that`s what I did . Very happy with it. Oh I nearly forgot you also get a 5 year guarantee with it.

Rocky..
