panasonic dvd-r compatibility probs

J Bravo (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 11th July 2003, 22:21

Need some advice.

I just bought a Panasonic DMRE50EBS DVD-R machine

Great recordings on Datawrite blanks and Panasonic blanks.
Play back fine in the DMRE50EBS.

- but NONE of my recordings will play back on other machines I`ve tested.
The same brand blanks from friends recorders play back fine on each of my other machines.

The other players are: a Wharfdale, pioneer (5 year old model), and a panasonic portable machine - few years old, that plays almost anything you throw at it (including super videoCD with the new DMRE50EBS doesn`t seem to support).

Any ideas why MY recordings won`t play in these players?

Thanks!

the wharfdale unfortunatly won`t play discs made in either the panny or the phillips machines, don`t know about the pioneer though.

The Pioneer should play them! I have a DV656-A and that plays everything!

I sell Pioneer dvd players where I work and Pioneer boasts to play all formats. Mine plays both + & -

Definitely sounds like you need to finalise the discs.

If only everything was half price at Woolies !
