SOUND OUTPUT ON LG 3350E, CAN IT BE IMPROVED? please advise

Ii have recently obtained the 3350 and have hacked it to all regions after difficulty. but one problem with the player is in comparison to the normal tv and sky volume, its volume output is a lot lower. in fact i have to have my tv volume turned to full. is there a remote hack available to increase the volume of the dvd player. it would appear reading through other threads that there is for other makes. i am using a scart connection.

Not that I am aware of, but DVD sound is supposed to appear lower than the other equipment...or to be technically correct, the others have their volumes set too high!!

This is so that when a loud noise (explosions etc.) happen, the "peak" of the sound doesn`t cause any damage to equipment/hearing etc. and the movie soundtrack balances out.

Hope this helps!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!

Most, if not all, TV audio output, is compressed in some way which balances the lows with the highs. You`ll probably notice this more in commercial breaks where advertisers want to hammer their message home to you as loud as is legal.

This audio compression takes away from the dynamic range of the overall sound, whereas DVD tends not to do this and you get the maximum effect of the original soundrtack as intended, like when dialog should be heard as a whisper and an explosion should rock the ornaments :-)

I have an Aiwa 370. From what I`ve been reading in this forum, this model and the the LG-series players seem to have a common lineage. I have a similar (but not identical) volume problem. On my Aiwa, the level of the DVD audio is good. It matches that of my normal TV tuner. However, when I play an audio CD in the Aiwa the volume is much louder. It actually causes the amp in my TV to clip!

Does your LG player have CD capability? If so, how does the CD volume compare to the DVD volume? Is the CD volume louder?

Thanks, Robin.

P.S. - I`d appreciate any info on volume level hacks, if they exist.
