Jimbo-best connections for 370???

bigboy (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 25th January 2001, 10:11

Jimbo,

Can you tell me the best way to connect my player to Yamaha A5 amp?

T.V. has an S-video on side of set next to audio plugs; 3 scarts; left, right, centre and rear amp connections

Video has 2 scarts; audio in/outs + video in

I think the joy of finding a 370 in Comet last Sunday has disturbed me to the point where I can`t make sense of the manuals....doh!!!

Cheers in advance

Yep, but I need pics or details of the Amp`s connectors..`cos if it`s the one I think, it cures the common "lip-synch" problem assosciated with amps.

Mail them to me (email addy on my site) and I will advise you further! ::grin::

(didn`t that sound all professional like! ROFL!)

1)s-video `out` of dvd to s-video `in` at the back of amp
(the dvd/ld connect) 2) s-video at back of amp (monitor
out connect) to your teles scart Y/C . Jimbo will help
you here. And a digital coaxial from dvd `out` to back of
amp (Coax. dvd/ld connect) No "lip-synch problems"
with the Yamaha AV and even if there was on the `set
menu` of the amp c.delay(centre delay) will adjust this.

you got me backwards here Cinema.

The lip synch is caused due to the video signal reaching the TV at the same time as the Audio signal reaches the amp.
Then the amp has to process the signal, and send it to the speakers.

I think all in this takes about a millisecond, but you`d be surprised to hear how many people can actually recognise this on screen!
