Page 1 of Sky minidish!
Hardware Forum
I`m dying to get Sky but the house has just been modernised and the building work has a ten year guarantee so if we put up a minidish then the bloddy guarantee goes out the window! Does anyone know if sky will put the dish anywhere else ( the roof maybe)?
I fail to see how a Sky mini dish could invalidate a 10 Year NHBC warranty.

My 1 meter sky dish is bolted onto a metal post which has a concrete base. A minidish would be a doddle.
Put it at ground level if you want though somebody will probaly nick it, garden shed anywhere ,I would go with the metal post idea myself.

Rawlbolts holding the bracket on and the whole mini dish weighs next to nothing (comparatively speaking). As for fitting the dish to the roof, then a lot of installers will shy away from fixing it to the chimney stack with a lashing kit.

A friend of mine used to install them in the south wales are, he mentioned before the have fitted them on top scaffolding poles to get above trees etc.
Pretty sure Sky provide the pole but you have to pay for it, so you don`t have to go and find one for yourself.
BTW never heard of a sky dish affecting a building warrantee, we have loads of new houses around us popping up all the time and most have got sky dishes on the side of them, builders are still on site and don`t say a word. If that is the case how can you fix a TV aerial to the building?
All the best
Ger.

My brother is a builder and has never heard of the NHBC guarantee being affected by SKY dishes.
A $ky dish, being pretty small unless you`re in Scotland, has less wind-loading than many TV aerials.
If its erection invalidates your guarantee, so would a TV antenna.
I think you have been misinformed.

Further to my comments yesterday
My brother ( the builder ) e-mailed the NHBC.
Satellite dishes do not invalidate your warranty.
I could forward the e-mail if you like.
Just advise me your e-mail address.
Cheers
