BIG JULES!
I am writing this to congratulate SONEL for a fantastic product"The macro master pro".
Having only recently bought a panasonic dmr e50 recorder i read a few threads posted on this site and decided to purchase a five pack of leads from sonel. They were delivered next day by 11am(marvelous).I then proceded to connect up my phillips 625 to the pana, and to my surprise it didn`t work,so i phoned the company up on the mobile number listed where i spoke to a very nice and knowledgeable chap named andy who told me as per instructions to try an adapter with 12v output with the scart and` bingo` the whole thing came to life...I tried to copy a dvd (for back up only of course) and to my amazement it worked like a charm and full RGB quality as well. WELL DONE SONEL
A word of warning for phillips owners though, if you record a dvd onto dvd-r with another machine like myself (panasonic) and play it back on the phillips `suprise` it doesn`t play back without stalling slightly now and again .Could this be because phillips recommend dvd+r and don`t even mention dvd-r in the instructions for playable discs?
in defence of phillips, the ocasional stutter on playback is almost certainly due to the disc rather than the machine itself.
I AM NOT A LEMON, I AM A CABBAGE.

Agreed. When I was unlucky enough to be an 880 owner I tried some dvd-r of the cheap variety which had problems. My HS2 does great recordings on JVC and Verbatim and the guy who bought my recorder also has discs from me and reports no problems.El cheapo discs seem to be a problem and a false economy.
BIG JULES!
Thanks for the advice, being a newbee to all this recording stuff i need input (johnny five)lol..so any advice would be appreciated. Also i would like to tell other potential buyers of a scart lead or box converter thre is no need to pay silly prices like ktvision or lektropacks charge for basically the same product at twice the price or more ,stick to SONEL and save your brass(well lektropacks told me they had tested some of those scart leads and they didn`t remove CGMS,but they would say that wouldn`t they)and their product isn`t even RGB compatable and costs £79.95 plus p+p,bloody cheek.I will endevor to purchase some verbatim dvd-r and let you know how i got on.... much appreciated BIG JULES
Hey Big Jules
I too am a newboy with all this recording stuff and havent even bought my Panny yet, I posted a message in reply to `Cheapy Player with no Macrovision` as I wanted to back up discs from my Marantz 7010 and was directed in the area of Sonel and now I`m almost convinced.
Can I pose a couple of questions which you may or not be able to answer, Picture great at RGB, but what about sound, does it copy DD & DTS tracks and what 12V adaptor did u use to pre power the scart?
I always use Verbatim discs to back up my CD`s using Nero and I have not wasted one disc yet, try www.consumables.co.uk for supply as I got good deals and technical support from them,
DVD recorders will NOT record Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS so a macro or CGms defeating lead is irrelevant in this context.
BIG JULES!
The sound is fine but as the other reply, does not record dd or dts,as for the power supplies i bought them in ARGOS for £4.99 each item no. 982/7253 hope this helps.
Just in case anyone is interested, I have bought one of these and have used it successfully in connection with a scart switching box (the Sonel lead being situated between the switch box and my DVD recorder. However it does need a power boost from an adapter if my Sky Box is connected through. Otherwise the picture is unstable. The switch box is one of the cheapies from Argos that has no separate power supply. I guess the switch box leaks a bit of power away.
