Recording from iDTV

Spen (Competent) posted this on Monday, 12th January 2004, 21:10

I`m currently looking to buy a new tv and thinking of getting an iDTV.
This may seem a bit naive, but if the hardware to decode the freeview channels is inside the tv and the arial comes in via my vcr how can I record a freeview channel?

You record via Scart. Probably L1 or L2 on your video.
My TV has an analogue tuner and a digital tuner and you can change the output of AV3 (lead to the video) to be Analogue tuner or Digital tuner. It`s usually (99.9%) set to Digi tuner. You can even send the AV1,2, or 4 to the video which can be handy and means no messing about with cables etc..;-)

Surely this works only if the TV is switched on though ?

To record from the digital tuner the TV has to be on or programmed from the TV and then turned to Standby. The power light then flashes every 10 secs or so from red to green to show there is `something happening` and it`s not just in standby. TV is a Sony.
