Optical Cable Switch?

BADMOFO (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 26th January 2004, 18:52

I am having Sky+ fitted tomorrow and also have a DVD player. I have 1 optical input on my Toshiba tv so I need to buy an optical cable switch so I can attach both cables to it. I undersatnd that an optical cable splitter won`t do the job. I thought Maplins may do something like this but they don`t seem to list it on their website. Can anyone give me a link to a site that may sell what I am looking for?

I thought I had read somewhere that you can also buy these with a remote control?

Thanks.

Hi I got this from maplins (warrington store) last week as I have the same problem with sky+ being installed on friday . I think the website shows out of stock but if you have a local maplins store you can give them a ring as they definately sell this product . hope this helps .

3-Way Optical Digital Audio Switcher See Prices Below

Bigger Picture

As more and more items of home entertainment equipment are supplied with optical digital audio connections (TosLinks™) it is increasingly frustrating that amplifiers and surround sound processors have only one input. This simple to use switch solves the problem of having to repeatedly plug and unplug equipment leads. This switcher will allow you to select an input from up to three sources with a positive locking action to ensure optimum signal transfer.
· Prevents wear on cables and connectors caused by repeated plugging and unplugging
· Standard TosLink™ type sockets
· Three optical inputs to one optical output
