Advice on Video Camera

Tubs74 (Elite) posted this on Monday, 9th February 2004, 11:21

With the June arrival of a little baby, I`m looking at getting a video camera to record those magic moments (in the hope of getting £250 from you`ve been framed)

Anyway, I`ve had a quick search and haven`t really found much advice one what to buy ... what I want is digital, relatively small, a light, night vision, a snapshot function, anamorphic recording (what the point of having a 16:9 tv if what your recording is 4:3) all hopefully for under £500.

Anyone know of a camera like this? How have people managed with whatever camera they are using? Any websites with advice?

Craig, I have just bought the Samsung VPD33 Digital Camcorder. I am very pleased with every aspect of it`s performance. I belive it meets all of your criteria, best of all is the price - only £247.99 inc P&P. I bought it from letsbuyit.com. I have just ordered another one for my uncle, they are out of stock at the moment, more stock is expected mid February. :)

You will need to spend a large part of your budget to get anywhere near 16:9, but you should be able to pick up an end of the line Panasonic NV-MX350 Mini DV camcorder forclose to £500, which boasts anamorphic 16:9 and 3 large CCD`s.
