Scart Leads

vitascope1 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 12th February 2004, 19:56

Hi
When using Scart or s-Video etc.

What are the best connection leads to use?.

Do you have to spend loads of money on leads,do the really make any difference??

cheers.

As a general rule of thumb, RGB scart is the best method of connecting DVD to tv. S Video is fine in many cases, and handy if you`re short of connections.

The difference a good cable makes is purely down to your equipment. There is simply no point spending upwards of £30 on a scart cable if you have a budget DVD Player/Recorder and a £300 tv. £15 should be your `glass ceiling` in this regard.

For excellent scarts at truly silly prices, go to CPC, or Beyond Hifi, who both stock scart leads at excellent prices and are also superb quality into the bargain ;)

I`m no authority on AV matters but I bought a Philex Thor scart (What-Hifi recommended product) to use on my Toshiba dvd player (SD220e). I was really impressed by how good it was - on RGB setting it sharpened up the picture and made the colours more vivid. It was a great deal better than the £20 Cambridge Audio one I bought at the same time as picking up the player. The Philex Thor should be around £25.

Perfectly good leads at Argos.

Do not be alarmed. That strange sound is simply
my mind boggling.
