Any thoughts on the Toshiba RD-XS30 DVD HDD Recorder

Newbie99 (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 13th February 2004, 15:33

Any thoughts on the Toshiba RD-XS30 DVD HDD Recorder gratefully received (ease of use, quality etc).

Is there anything that the Panasonic E50 or E60 WILL do that the Toshiba will NOT do (i.e. am I losing anything going for the Toshiba HD instead of a Panasonic with no HD).

(Please dont suggest the Panasonic Hard Drive models as an alternative - its a long and not very interesting story !)

Indeed there is something the Panny can do.Record direct to dvdr. The Tosh requires that everything you put on dvd has to be added to the HDD first. Not user friendly at all,and its got no RGB input,so unless you have Sky+(for its s-video output),then Sky Digital recordings will be in ghastly composite.
