TV/DVD/SAT - now wanna add VCR with 2 free scarts on VCR
TV 2 scarts
DVD 1 scart
SAT 1 scart
Now VCR has 2 scarts
I connected the VCR last night from scart1 into sky satellite receiver scart last night thinking that I can record from satellite - but noooo chance!
How do I add this in so I use my all 4 systems?
My old setup seems to record fine from the TV for channels 1-5 - do I have to somehow setup a new channel in my VCR for satellite or will an AV1 or AV2 channel be used?
I can give more info if needed.

You can set a channel for Sky on your video (not sure what channel, but I think you can set the channel out from you Sky box menu) and/or you can record from AV1 or AV2 depending which scart socket you plugged Sky into.

buy one of these £10 at argos
run a scart (fully wired) cable from AV1 or EXT1 on your tv to the output
scart socket on the switchbox.
run a scart (fully wired) cable from your DVD player to input 1 or A on the
switchbox.
run a scart (fully wired) cable from your Satellite to input 2 or B on the
switchbox.
reason for fully wired is due to RGB compatibility, DVD & satellite output
RGB, VHS does NOT.
run a scart cable from the input 3 or C of the switchbox to the input scart
socket on your video.
run a scart lead from the output scart socket of your video to AV2 or EXT 2
on your tv.
to record from satellite you normally have to change the recording channell on the
vcr to AV or similar, channels 0 - 9 are reserved for terrestrial(sp?) tv
on the switch box, there are six buttons, 3 of these buttons are for switching
equipment so that they can display to the tv. press button 1 and you get DVD
press 2 satellite etc. etc.
there are another three buttons, one of these is to select RGB output, leave it
pressed in.
the other 2 buttons allow for copying A to C or B to C, where C is the vcr.
Unless your DVD has the macrovision removed you won`t be able to copy
disks.
sorry it`s long winded but hth

Thank you for both replies will try the short method first from first replier and then your method if fails - all I wanna do is record a kiddie programme for my 4 yr old nephew.. called Big Cook Little Cook which comes on one of the satellite channels. Poor thing is having to wait till I mess around with the setup...
I suppose this a good reason why I should have worked this one out somehow by now...

I`m surprised that you cannot record a SKY channel (other than a movie channel), as this is one of the main reasons for having a VCR with 2 SCART`s. Just make sure that the SKY box is set to output composite video as you may have it set to RGB from when it was connected directly to the TV, and your VCR may not be able to record RGB. But basically, your VCR should be able to record SKY as long as you are able to watch SKY though the VCR ok when the TV is set to the VCR channel.

splintercell - This lovely box you`ve recomended will it do the following...
Connect my dvd and gamecube to the RGB scart on my TV will it then connect the audio phono leads from my game cube (it`s the game RGB cable with the phono leads)
I then want to plug my VCR into my second TV Scart (non RGB) and connect the audio phono`s from the video to the scart box.
Then I was hoping to connect the scart box to my amp via the phono leads so I can have two things connected to my RGB scart socket on my TV and 2 things connected to my Amp for audio without having to muck about changing leads.
Any help would be much appreciated as if it works this cheap little box could save me a load of lead swapping hassle.
RE: TV/DVD/SAT - now wanna add VCR with 2 free scarts on VCR
tazz,
yup, that just about sums it up....except, the phono leads bit, there`s only 1 input
and only 1 output :/
btw, you won`t have to run the phono leads from the `cube scart lead into the box.
all the items which are are using scart to input the signal also input sound...
therefore, if you connect 2 phono leads from the output phono`s of the switch box
to the input on your amp, all of your equipment will be able to send sound to your amp.
hth?
