Any recommendations for a good spec digital video camera preferably at a bargain price...

ezabuk (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 25th February 2004, 11:33

Hi all,

I am presuming that this will be able to take pictures also - Correct me if wrong, but I believe that this forum will soon bring out the best/worst digital video camera.

Anyone got one with features they particularly like or dislike even?

Such as storage capacity
Battery Life
Size/Portability (Smaller the better as I have v.small hands)
Screen size
Pixel Quality
etc.

Feel free to add, ez :)

Samsung Digimax V4. It`s an awesome camera, price is around 220ish now. 4 megapixels and comes with a free 32mb card. They also supply a free CRV3 battery which lasts for about 200+ shots. If you`re buying this, buy their special rechargable CRV3 pack (NOT the powerpack) which allows you to recharge this superb battery.

Sorry, you said Video... DVC - Samsung VPD500 or whatever the current model is. THing is, for taking still photos, videocameras support it but aren`t generally that good. The Samsung was cheap, very good and has DV In as well as Out.

If you are after a sony TRV but want a cheaper option have a look at the Panasonic GS70 it`s a 3 CCD mini dv and I picked my one up for £750 on Tottenham Court road. Should be able to get that price on the net too if you have a look around. This one will also take digital stills.

Don`t know if this site helps you but it`s forum that helped me out when I was deciding what to go for

There`s a rather large electrical chain getting rid of some Camcorders at the minute rather cheap...

Example: Sony IP7 for £680 ish, JVC GRDV5 for £480....

And there`ll be loads more ;)

I have recently bought the Samsung VPD 33 for £247.95 (inc P&P) from Craig Hi-Fi Ltd via Letsbuyit.com. The camera is really small and easy to use. It also has the facility to take sony memory sticks. I have another one on order at the moment, new stock is expected any day now. :)
