Page 1 of NTL problems with digital tv

I`m getting problems with my picture through my digibox, specifically most of the `sky` channels seem not to be in widescreen anymore. The five standard channels are fine, full widescreen, so I don`t think it`s my tv (only bought about two months ago).

I had the same problem two weeks ago and got on the phone to their technical support line. Whilst I was in the process of describing the problem it seemed to correct itself before my eyes doubting whether I had jumped the gun and was seeing things that weren`t there. Now it`s happened again and of course because it`s the weekend NTL are closed (great service!!!). I know that not all channels broadcast in widescreen as I`ve always had this problem with Scuzz but now it seems like all channels except the standard five are suffering from the same problem.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this or am I losing my marbles??

Just an idea, but have you tried doing the settings again on the box to tell it to output widescreen?

They did a software update recently (the EPG etc changed, new colour scheme, button layout etc). Maybe the digiboxes reverted to a default setting afterwards. I`m not sure because when I noticed the upgrade, I went into the settings and changed them to what I had them on before anyway.

We also have problems with NTL: ITV2 is almost always distorted or the picture and sound will constantly keep on going and coming back. Ever since NTL have included E4 and E4+1 in our package, the same has been happening with these channels.

Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening?

Also, the new layout is bloody annoying!! If they are going to change the layouts, they should send new remote controls that make it easier for us to navigate our way through the system, which I am still having trouble getting used to! >:(

The reason for only certain channel distortion is that your signal level on the higher band freq`s is too low. Request an engineer call out.

Also, new remotes have just started to be sent out, if you can`t wait call and request one.
