Philips DVDR 880

Hi all,

I just bought one of these off eBay and have been ripped off totally! The seller is ignoring all my emails etc.. and I really dont know what to do next. The DVDR is Boxed with Manual and Remote etc!

When I try and record it says "Disc Error" and these are brand new DVD+RW`s. it won't recognise some disks - It displays "EMPTY DISK" and repeatedly fails on "POST FORMAT" of recordings.

Does anyone have a receipt for one of these, or any help so I can just get what I paid for?

Please email: nhoj[at]ku.oc.etrahnhoj

Thanks Guys,

John.

Hi,

Have a word with Philips. The DVDR880 is known to have had problems with its laser unit giving "No Disc" errors. I think Philips extended the warranty to two years because of this (don`t quote me on that though).

HTH,

Damian

Make sure you leave him negative feedback.Report the problem to Ebay.If you paid him by Paypal report the problem properly to them and they will freeze his account. You may not lose out. However,a thorough read of any forum would have shown you that he should have paid you to take it off his hands.
Go to Philips website, but tread carefully.Tell them you have lost the receipt,it was a present orsomething like that, and you may get a free repair.Don`t tell them its off ebay or you`ll lose completely.

Hi John.
I have had the same problem, went to www.consumer.philips.com and downloaded a new driver, from pages 3 & 4.
But go to directions for use troubleshooter first.

hope this helps.

For what it`s worth, I got a free collect/repair/delivery on my 890 after 18 months, but only after getting a copy of the receipt which I`d lost, from the retailer, (cost me a tenner).

Hello John.
I have the same problem with the DVDR880. I have bought it 1 year ago. In the first there was no problems, but now, every time when I want record a DVD+R with the timer function I can´t read the film. I made a upadate yesterday, but doesn´t change.
I don´t understand why Philips sell a product like this! I bought it for 550€ in Luxemburg.
I bring the maschine to the seller for reparation now.

I wish good luck for you.

Jörg

Downloads of updates from the Philips site never provide long term solutions on this machine.A proper hardware replacement is needed
