Page 1 of Subwoofer: Eltax A8

Can anyone share experience - good or bad - on this subwoofer?

I`ve seen it suggested that the A8 may "get hot and shut down". I`m relatively new to this - is that something subwoofers in general do or should it never happen????

I guess its possible for them to get hot and shut down, but a sub should be capable of outputing bass for extended periods without doing this.

Personally I would only ever consider Paradigm and REL subs, even though I have Eltax front and center speakers.

I`ve had the Eltax A8 for 8 months without any problems at all. I have heard that there were a dodgy batch that, as you say, ran hot and shut off.

Gives a good thwump when you want one, and doesn`t dominate. Sounds awesome with dance music too.

Shame I didn`t get one of the hot-running ones, tho`. Could have done with a BBQ in my front room to save me running into my kitchen every five minutes to get snacks and stuff...
