Page 1 of SC-2000 FW 2.14 -> 2.33

I am using 2.14 and it is working VERY good.

Is there any point to upgrade to 2.33?

More possibilities?
Still macrovision free?
Other improvements on the DVD side? (I read that VCD works/looks better).

[DiViDo owners; you know that this is the same DVD player as SCAN-2000]

If you`re happy with the player don`t upgrade.

Like a pc`s bios only flash it if you need to.

Also if your current player developes a fault a replacement will most likely have the new firmware preinstalled.

I agree, but I just wonder what is new in the 2.33 version (compared with 2.14)?

As you may or may not know NiVZ, Toy Car and Xeno are now beta testers for the
Scan SC2000 Firmware. Bellow you will find our combined opinions on the latest
firmware that we are testing. V2.33SCN

1.Picture quality

Picture quality is excellent much sharper and crisper than we have seen in a
while possibly ever. Very little background movement/noise and colours are
vibrant with no smearing. Both r1 and r2 discs played well and did not
experience any noticeable pauses(layer changes etc). Toy Car has noticed some
ghosting of the picture on all video formats, but is more noticeable on R1
discs. He has also reported slight bleeding of very strong red colours

2. Sound quality

The sound quality is a BIG step up and sounds great. Everything from cda, mp3,
playback in DTS and dd5.1 everything was crisp and well toned. The sound is much
warmer, fuller and richer.

3.Vcd Playback

Xeno "I watched 1 svcd and playback seemed good. I dont think there has been
much change in vcd performance."
Toy Car "VCD is better than 2.29 not as good as 2.08 the problem being the
sharper image shows the lower bitrate of VCD"
NiVZ "VCD is greatley improved, much crisper."

so i guess you will have to call that one your self, if 2.33 is released.


4.Mp3

Mp3 playback is very good, ffwd and rwd operate correctly at 2x.Quality as i
said earlier is excellent, a big improvement over older firmware.
There is also no half second cut off the start of a track now. The Random
shuffle has now been included.

5. Remote

There is no remote delay and performs perfectly.

6. Overall performance

V2.33 is, in are opinion, an excellent upgrade the sc2000 performs very well in
every department. There is again no sign of blue shadowing and there is a clear
reduction in background noise. Disc detection is much quicker.

7. Good News

Hi all, i have just brought a scan sc2000 player and it should be here on tue. I just came across this new firmware and i would like to know where i could get this new firmware 2.33 as the previous person in this group said it was a great improvement. Would be grateful to anyone who could post a link for this firmware download.
