check out this great website but the lg3000e only plays original pressed vcd`s and mp3 http:/www.lgdvd.co.uk and tell them jed sent you hope this helps

Chipping the player still won`t make it read a CDR or CDRW.
You`d have to change the laser pick up assembly to a Dual laser.
It`s actually be easier to just replace the tray and loading mechanism as a whole assembly!!!
