Help? Philips DVDR610 Macrovision
Do you think there will ever be a code to disable macrovision on this machine, before i go out and buy a lead to get round it. Thx in advance
RE: Help? Philips DVDR610 Macrovision
Could be wrong about this, but isn`t the problem with the player not the recorder? In other words if you have another DVD player from which you are recording, I think that`s the one that has to have macrovision disabled (or is it some other digital encoding device?). If you get a macrovision defeating connection lead (e.g. Sonel) you should be OK.

Yes, Axeman is correct if you are planning to use the 610 to record a macrovison DVD or Video, from a DVD or VHS player to the 610, or are you planning to use the 610 as a player and record on something else?
I would recommend using a PC DVD writer with DVD Shrink and Nero 6 to backup your DVD`s as currently this is the only way of making a copy in full 5.1 Dolby Digital & DTS with all the extras intact. A copy with a separates DVD recorder will only give you Dolby 2 Channel Stereo
RE: Help? Philips DVDR610 Macrovision
Ive recently bought a region4 DVD, and used a combination of DVD Region Free (software that hides the region code so it can be played in a Region 2 PC - DVDRW) and DVD Fab (which gives a 1 to 1 back up spanning 2 discs with all feature, or allows the movie alone (+5.1 or DTS Soundtrack) onto a single disc. It also removes the region coding info, macrovision etc so the disc can be played on any machine).
The resulting DVD-R can even be played back on the playstation
Works wonderfully, and both are available on 30 day free trial at
