DVD-RAM. Pioneer answers please phelings

phelings I can`t see your logic. Take DVD-RAM. You run it down to the point of putting people off when there is absolutly no need for it. ie
1..If DVD-Ram was unreliable, I could understand, If it caused problems while recording, I`d understand, If there was a more RELIABLE system I`d understand. But you run it down just because you can`t lend it out (which you can). phelings run down DVD-RAM if it doesn`t do what it`s supposed to do, problem is it does what it`s supposed to do & more.

2.."I did not tell you this-but if you copy a commercial disc on your PC with dvd shrink or similar, the resulting copy can be duplicated via the Pioneer.Much more user friendly than any PC copying I know"...... this is a reply to another question. Perhaps we see the real reason you diss the RAM system so much. If you do this & a person has the Panasonic recorder it won`t play r/w discs. That you seem so intent on `Loaning out`

3..On the Pioneer if you record a TV programme with adverts on. You then edit out the adverts. Can you then put this recording (adverts added out) onto a DVD/RW disc & lend it out to play on a normal DVD player or in this mode will a normal DVD player not play it.

4. Mico. You diss this DVD Recorder yet you`ve never had one. No it`s not as practical as the Panasonic RAM system (NOTHING IS) but it is a great little recorder, & people on a budget are moving up a long way from a VHS recorder. Don`t diss this great little recorder.
5..I`ve seen you on other forums where you are trying to diss the RAM system but you get a lot more opposition on these other forums from people who know just how good the RAM system is.

Paull-I never diss RAM.You seem to thnk because I advise against a Panasonic machine that I am slagging off RAM.I`m not.I know it is as good as you say.All I want to tell people is the SINGLE disadvantage of using RAM.Not compatible with 99% of players. If compatibility is not something important to people ,then Panasonic is a good choice, especially with the excellent prices the lower models are going for. But,as seen many times, compatibility IS an issue for some people. There are those who need to play on a PS2,an XBOX,or another player elsewhere in the house. Not possible with RAM.And why don`t Panasonic add -RW to their machine,IN ADDITION to RAM.Yhen you would have RAM for editing,-R for write once,+ the option to use -RW on another player if you wanted to.Other makes do it,why can`t Panny?
Your second point is not really worthy of a comment, but that was a reply to someone asking whether any recorders coied dvd-hdd.I thought it worth mentioning in case it was what he wanted to do.

If you use a -RW inVR mode so you can edit ads out it is just as incompatible as RAM.You always mention this-how many times do I have to say it so you will understand.I KNOW that -RW(VR) is no more compatible than RAM,but -RW(VIDEO) is.I am not saying -RW(VR) is any better than RAM.I simpl;y mention that -RW offers the VIDEO mode, which RAM does not.Of course,if you buy a -RW/HDD model, rather than RAM/HDD,all editing is done on the HDD,but Panasonic do not offer a choice of copying to a compatible rewritable ,unlike ALL othger makes.Once again, this disses Panasonic,NOT RAM.
The Mico is a cheap budget recorder, like lots of other DVD+ machines.I generally advise that people buy a better make if they can afford it.But its certainly value for money,as are most other budget recorders.I never slate the machine as a whole. But you seem to think if I post pointing out which features are missing from a certain machine,(like the Liteon 5005)I am dissing it.Not so.I am pointing out which features are missing-thats all.
In general, this forum has less users than the others I use,but I would say, percentage wise,I get about the same amount of opposition on all forums.Like you, people who are stuck with a RAM only machine will fight tooth and nail to justify their purchase.I did it with my Philips, but as I spent thousand using all formats I had a chance to see the pros and cons of all the different kinds of recording formats. It always a learning experience, but I think I have learnt more than you and other RAM supporters purely because I have used them all,and once you,and others have experienced them all too,you may agree.
To repeat,I don`t dislike RAM at all.Its an excellent format. So next time you see me advise someone against Panasonic, don`t get all defensive. If that person is like you,and compatibility is not important-I would recommend Panasonic as their first choice

Thanks Guys, it has been very entertaining reading your various arguments over the last few months. Summerised in the above post`s. This made my mind up to go for the Panny E55, (especially as it was £152) :D

Thanks again guys.

BTW, it is a great piece of kit! :D

Blimey, where did you find the E55 for that price? I have my eye on one of these for Christmas but the cheapest I`ve seen it is £219 multi-region (£199 R"2)
