Advice: DVD Player - Multiregion and Macrovision disabled

llll_lllll_llllll (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 26th October 2004, 10:42

Hi all, I`m after some advice, I`m just after some cheap and cheerfull DVD Player that will play whatever I throw in it, be Multiregion and also have Macrovision Disabled.

Heard the Umax Yamada DVX-6600 is a good budget player, but is this one multiregion and could i turn macrovision off?

Thanks in advance.

Turning macro off in software is a thing of the past. None of the current crop of budget players have this feature.

The Yamada is region free but no macro off. If Safeways have any Compacks 5000 still in stock thats the way to go, does both! Failing that the Cyberhome 512 is macro off and region free with a firmware downgrade.... trouble is finding one!

Hi i have the cheap Asda Pacific dvd 1002w player plays everything region free and macrovision disabled all with a simple code had it for over a year no problems.(much better than my expensive phillips)
these still worked on one bought last month for inlaws.

note nothing shows on screen when you do this, so dont keep pressing keys

Macrovision hack
open the tray
press 4, 5, 6, 1, 0, then press enter
macrovision should now be disabled.
