Page 1 of liteon 5005 firmware

Have bought above at £120 squid at argos (even got £10 voucher) :)

Have read various threads about updating firmware and admit I am struggling. :(

Am told in instructions book to download a zip file and open - save to cd and insert in liteon.

File on website is in rar format and have tried loading it to the recorder via a burnt cdr
but only got a message that it was a data cd and the word FILE on the liteons front
display screen - can any old hands who have done this successfuly help out.

Ive had trouble with RAR zipfiles. If you try the RAR website and download the evaluation versionit may help

You need a program to open the RAR file. The program I used was winrar you can find a trial version here http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm download the trial version. Once you have downloaded winrar, run it and extract the file you downloaded from liteon. You then burn the extracted file to CD, after that follow liteons instruction. please make sure you download the right firmware update for you machine.

and a word of warning, I think you need to make sure you only have the box RARFILES ONLY checked, or similar, or it will become the default for all zip files, which you probably dont want!
