Philips 28PW6008 - any good?

Shaanbles (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 20th December 2004, 12:39

There are loads of 28" widescreens around and I wondered if anyone had one a
Philips 28PW6008
and if so, is it any good?

I set one of these up for some friends two weeks ago.
For around £200 it`s infinitely better than the supermarket brands available for the same money.
Nicely styled.
Good picture.
Good sound, although the pseudo-surround sound is of dubious value.
Seems to be well made.
Has a superwide function which automatically switches the aspect ratio for widescreen and non-widescreen transmission,so that the whole screen is used at all times without people looking short and fat etc.etc.
Like I said,for the money,it`s the best option I`ve seen yet. :D

Thank you :)

I actually popped into Currys at lunchtime and saw a Ferguson 28" widescreen for £220 - tempted by that as I can get it immediately and don`t have to wait (or pay) for delivery.

Any thoughts on Ferguson?? :p

I don`t know anything about the latter day Ferguson.
They used to be the make of choice for Radio Rentals, back in the day when people rented their televisions instead of buying them.
I`d stick with the Phillips,on this occasion,but it`s your money ! ;)
