Watch LG and Brands electronics - they give you old for new

Mate just phoned LG about probs with his 3200 and they referred him to Brands Electronics. Brands said they`d send an exchange machine but it would be a reconditioned old machine. Needless to say my mates not impressed he`s going to handover a spanking new one for a recon one.
Is this right ? Anyone else have this experience ?

I`m in the same position as your mate, and what worrys me is that lots of people have posted comments in the hack section of this forum and said that machines that they received as replacements have actualy been worse then the ones they returned to brands.

Problems included noisey disc drives and some even freezing on films that were fine before.

I contacted Brands this morning and voiced my concerns and a lady said "that that was the first they have heard of any problems" but then said only about 5% were faulty as a replacement however say 1000 machines have been returned that would mean that they sent out 50 players that were worse then the orginal ones, scarry stuff

If your mate gets one and he is not satisfied with tell him to complain cause thats exactly what i will be doing.

I`ve just received my new machine and it seems to be O.K. and it is brand new. If it wasn`t boxed and brand new the delivery guy would have had it straight back on the van and I`d have been on the blower to Brands kicking up a storm. As a consumer, if you buy goods that aren`t satisfactory or malfunction under guruntee the goods should either be a) fixed or b) replaced for brand new, not some second hand crap that somebody has already had and sent back!

Totally spot on - if a company is replacing defective goods with second-hand or refurbished stock they are in breach of the Sales of Goods Act - report them to your local Trading Standards Department IMMEDIATELY.
