DVD-RAM discs - Panasonic or other brand?
I am looking to get some more RAM discs for my Panasonic E55. The one`s I have just now were £14.99 for 5. (they are panasonic`s discs).
I saw some others - {DV 3145} Datasafe 4.7GB DVD-RAM Single Sided Disc = 10 for £14.99 (i.e half the price of my Panasonics)
Are these compatible with my E55?
Does anyone know if these will be any different in quality if they do work?
& is there any way to get RAM discs cheaper?
If I was to buy a DVD player for transfer my RAM discs to finalise onto cheaper DVD-R`s, is it only Panasonic that make DVD players to play RAM discs?
(starting to realise that a HDD might be a good idea after all. If only the idiots in Curry`s had explained it properly to me!)
thanks
GKF

£14.99 for 5 Panasonic RAM discs !?!?!?
I paid around £6 or £7 each (Caddy discs) when I first got my machines (E50 and E55)
Why you`d want to penny pinch and get even cheaper ones is beyond me. :/
In fact, why you`d want umpteen RAM discs is beyond me.
They are meant to be watch and wipe so,in theory, one is fine.
You must record one hell of a lot of stuff, but never watch it !? ;)
With regard to the HDD machine.
If backing up RAM recordings to -R`s is what you want, then you can buy a Panasonic DVD player for under £50.
I bet an E55 + player is still cheaper than a decent HDD machine.

the £14.99 PAnny RAM discs are non-caddy(think they are that price at Argos), I got a set of them for any recordings I want to transfer to my PC and then onto DVD-R to save. Otherwise I bought a double sided datasafe caddy from Big Pockets for day to day stuff which was about £3.50. Works fine everytime and is good to just eject and flip over if haven`t had chance to watch whats on the side at that point
RE: DVD-RAM discs - Panasonic or other brand?
I have a Panasonic E55 recorder and I`ve just ordeed a cheap (£30) Panansonic player which is RAM compatible and my idea is to record a series, or prog with ads, to RAM, edit out the rubbish and then play it back on to a cheap dvd -r.
I figured the extra player is better value than 10 RAM discs for the same price and I will just re-use the 5 x RAMs I have.
Or am I crazy.

No, good idea :D
Where are you getting RAM player for £30?
PS these work fine for me in my E55

I have some Datasafe`s in caddies - they`re fine in my E55. You can get Panny RAM disks (non-caddie) for about £11 (pack of 5) off e-bay.

Getting one from an Amazon linked seller that I`ve used before and can recommend called Mikrolive. £29.99 plus £5.01 postage. Pity Amazon don`t have them at that price with the free postage.
Here it is

I received my Panasonic RAM compatible player 2 days after ordering from Mikrolive Ltd via Amazon.
Multi region out of the box for £35 inc carriage.
It is an excellent player with great easy to use menus.
I am very pleased.
I thoroughly recommend the supplier if you can get one to complemement a Panasonic RAM recorder. No need to fiddle about with the pc now!
