Hi I have an Awia 370 that im trying to record off of on to VHS can this be done as i keep losing sound and pic quality, And 2nd when i first turn the DVD on the draw opens about 1 inch waits for 2 seconds then goes back in. Although this does not bother me to much if it is a fault then i may as well get it sorted out.
Thank in advance Phil..

What you are experiencing there, Mystery, is the Power of Macrovision, which (put simply) distorts the signal that you wish to record from DVD onto old fashioned VHS tape (for purely, ahem, personal `back up` use, naturally).

The Aiwa is one of a few players that cannot be hacked via the remote control to disable the Macrovision, though everyone here knows that Jimbo (try his site, incidentally - http://www.choosefirst.co.uk) tried to crack, sadly without fail. Hence, unless you get the player modified or fork out for one of these Macrobuster devices, you`re videotaping from DVD days have come to a short stop.

As for the tray thingy - ask Jimbo : he the man for all things Aiwa.
