Cyberhome ADM512 BIOS

miklos (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 29th May 2001, 02:43

I`ve just bought the above player: Firmware ver A009.9-0112

Does anyone know the significance of the following BIOS setup options:-

OP PROH (default value 1).Is this the region code?(change it to 13)?
ERROR Correction..OFF
TEST NOISE........OFF
Power Switch..... Lock
MIC...............OFF
Video Out SWEN....ON
ENCODE VER.........5

All the above parameters are the defaults that can be altered.
No mention of Macrovision encyrption.

I did find in the set-up that you cannot output both to RGB and S-Video
if you have connections to both.

Trying the player out with my first DVD "Anna and the King" I was knocked out with the sheer definition and colour rendition. (And I`m used to high quality video, both from DVC; On-Digital & S-VHS decks)

However I don`t know if changing the OP PROH to 13 will do it for Region1. If I`m THERE please let me know or do I need a BIOS upgrade?

Hi
In order to change region codes you need to upgrade the firmware to version 9.8.
The file is available from www.cyberhome-help.de/main_english.php4. and has to be burnt onto a CD-R and loaded into the player.
I bought an Adm 512 last week, did the upgrade and it works fine. With vers 9.8 it`s also possible to disable macrovision by setting the value to 0. This has to be re-entered if the machine is switched off.

Hope this is of use.

Thanks I Dawson..that looks promising then. After installing ver 9.8 is there actually a line that says "region code" and "macrovision" or do these values mascarade under something else?

There is nothing in my machine currently that identifies either.

Enter 13 at the region code line and 0 at the macrovision line, the macrovision has to br re-disabled each time the machine is switched back on.

I have read your posting with interest as I am thinking of buying the player as a second player to my proline 1000. Is it as good as the reviews and is it compatible with a prologic tv ie give pologic sound. What are the mp3 capabilties like ie does it have any problems with long titles etc. Also on this site it says tha the player can be hacked using the remote so why does it require a firm ware disk?

Gary

Press 7-6-ENTER on remote to access hidden menu

Scroll down to NEXT PAGE at the bottom, press enter

The macrovision option is at the top, enter 0

You will need to do this every time you switch the machine on.
