No, but I would add a word of warning that the quality of the 5006B may not be that great. Mine for example caused fed-through tv images to become jerky on occasion and also green hues were present in dark areas of the screen on playback and on TV images (only when the unit was switched on). I am by no means alone in having these problems, though *some* people have been lucky and don`t get these symptoms.

Have a search here :

for more details.

I now have a Samsung DVDR100E which does not have these faults and was £160 from Tesco online (-RW, -R and -RAM).

Good Luck !

Martin

Martin :)

I take it I am one of the few lucky ones then as I have a 5005B that performs exceptionally well.
No jittery playback or colour distortion at all.
The 5005B is an excellent potential purchase for anyone who wants a device that "Does what it says on the tin". Simple to use and set up.
The recordings I have made from our Sky+ box at either the two or three hour settings are quite honestly almost perfect. Almost perfect as I would guess that if you zoomed in at the three hour setting it may not be quite as good as the two hour setting.
I have used this great wee machine for the last few months and would have no hesitation in buying another Lite-On in the future.
The ability to create Audio CD`s is a great wee bonus.
I myself would use this to record say Dead Ringers from BBC7 or say Dads Army radio shows and end up with an almost perfect reproduction of the original broadcast. Not bad for "An Inferior Quality" machine as others have posted elsewhere.
Yes there are undoubtedly better machines on the market at the moment but for my money the 5005B at £130, Argos I think, would take a lot to beat.
The firmware hack that enables the three hour mode and de-macro`d the 5005B have simply improved on what IMHO is an excellent machine.
As I said, at £130 this unit is well worth the money.

Choagy,

you`re talking about the 5005B which is a different model. But yes, you are perhaps lucky as people have reported problems with that one too.

I still have my Liteon 5006B and am waiting to see if a firmware fix will arrive one day that will fix the issues it has.. afterall, as you say the features are excellent for the money shame about the picture quality of some units though (mine included :()
