Sony DVP-S725 any good?
I`ve got the Sony HTK-215 theatre system and I`m looking for a better player to go with it.
Is a chipped Sony DVP-S725 worth it or should I look somewhere else?
Any suggestions, please - thanks.
RE: Sony DVP-S725 any good?
I got my 725 back in December. It`s superb - great picture - great sound - easy to use - and most importnat, plays every disk I try without problems. I paid £349 for mine from Richer Sounds. It`s chipped and can bet set for auto region or manual region, and so can play RCE disks as well.
Go buy.
The Sony players (x25/x35) are the ONLY players that can play all 500 of my dvds without fault.
Make sure you get one that has manual region option so that it can play RCE discs (better still get one thats both manual and auto region)
I got my Sony 725 from Seven Oaks Sound and Vision, it uses the Techtronics auto/manual mod (the Techtronics Sony mod is one of the best, but their customer service is quite poor based on peoples posts in newsgroups). I choose Seven Oaks as they gave a 2 year Warranty.
i can also recommend the multiregionmagic.co.uk (i think) mod, works a treat.
i have the sony 735 and it is glorious...

Good news - thanks guys.

Its a great machine. The only thing is it does not play CDRs. Thats important if you want to burn your own VCD from camcorders.

I`ve got a DVD-ROM for that, but cheers for the tip!

The 725 plays Princo CDs with no problem (both Audio and VCD)
