I have a Pioneer 717 (excellent machine!).
It works fine on DVDs, CDs and CDRs but does not seem to play the VCD I`ve just been given (Four Weddings and a Funeral). The player does identify it as a VCD but, when I press play, I just get the spinning disc in the bottom left-hand corner and `play` in the top right - nothing else. The disc plays fine in my PC.
Any suggestions anyone? Thanks.
I have a 717 and it plays VCDs fine. Although they never autostart. I always have to press PLAY manually. Does it play other VCDs?
If its an `unofficial` copy then that is the chance you take i`m afraid.
I don`t know if it plays other VCDs as I don`t have any! However, the one I have is an official PolyGram one. It is rather old though (it also supports CDi) and I wonder whether this is the problem - anyone know if the disc layout has changed over the years? This disc has a 547M data file (AVSEQQ01.DAT) in the MPEGAV directory and two small *.VCD files in the VDC directory - not sure if this is correct.
