Renting Widescreen TVs......

Hulk Smash! (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 3rd July 2001, 00:47

Hi - I have just bought a DVD player, and am thinking of renting a widescreen tv (there`s no way I can afford to buy a good/large one at the moment!).

So I`ve got a few basic questions for you good people - any info would be very appreciated!!

1. What/which is a good 32" or 36" widescreen TV? (make/model). I am not particularly interested in loads of special features or external/surround sound - just a "basic" TV with good picture and sound.

2. Approx. how much would it cost per-month for one of the above?

3. Where is the best place to hire from? And does anywhere do any special offers (eg. rent the TV for 2 years - then buy it cheap!!)

Cheers!!

Hi, I`m expecting to take receipt of a 32" Panasonic from Boxclever (formerly Granada) £34.99 per month including Sony DVD player. The inclusion of the DVD player was for a limited time only. £34.99 per month is the best price I`ve seen.

Can`t comment on picure/sound quality yet as TV hasn`t arrived but as its a Panny should be good.

Why don`nt you just buy one from one of those homeshopping cataloges, that why you can pay monthly and own the TV at the end. Plus you have the benifit that if it goes wrong for any reason just send it erm back and they will send you another one stright away. The bonus of this if you pay say over 1\2 yrs they will bring a newer version of the origional TV so if yours goes wrong you get the newer one for free. You may pay a little extra than buying from a TV retailer but you can pay monthly and have cover and own the TV at the end. I have down this with no end of things and saved a hell of a lot of money over all. Or if ya have a credit card just buy and pay monthly on that :)

Try http://www.dialatv.co.uk - have to say I`m rather tempted by the JVC Interiart Flat widescreen they`re offering for a fiver a week.

Yeah realised after I`d signed the bit of paper that Sony`s don`t have a multi region hack - bummer!
