Can anyone tell me if this player is multi region out of the box. If it is not can it be hacked or does it have to be chipped.

Being a Pioneer I would say there is no chance of it being multi-region out of the box, Pioneers need to be chipped as there is no hacks for them.

This is not correct. I have a Pioneer DV 515 and it is multi-region requiring no hack or mod. It seems to depend where the model comes from.
