Sony RDRGX210S

paulgoth (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 26th September 2005, 15:03

Had looked at buying one for its multi-format ability but have ready some bad reviews about RF bleed and SCART RGB degradation.

I only want it for putting old VHS onto DVD and maybe the odd SKY+ programme.

Anyone had any problems or got one of these and would recommend getting one ?

Hiya - just purchased one of these - have not noticed any RF bleed, although there does seem to be a little RGB degradation, but not much. I have used it to record from a Philips 625 DVD player using a Macrovision lead and have had good quality recordings. Also used it to record from a Goodmans Freeview box, with a little degradation through the RGB lead.

Hope that helps!

Hi Paulgoth
I owned one of these recorders and I have to say that the RGB problem was a major issue as my tv only had RGB scart connections. There was some awful ghosting and colour bleeding when trying to watch via RGB so I took it back to where I bought it. I have heard recently that Sony are fully aware of the RGB problem and have fixed it on all new 210 machines and are offering free repairs on affected models.
