Page 1 of Philips DVDR75 - problem with +RWs

Had no problems with this until recently where I seem to have a problem with some Philips +RW discs I bought. I record onto the disc fine, but then it behaves like a finalised +R disc - I can`t edit anything. The menu screen loses the bar down the right hand side, and I can`t access any of the editing functions, or even delete the contents.
Never tried upgrading the firmware, so I might give that a go. Anyone else experienced a similar problem?

I would check the discs book type? using nero or simular program.And compare with a known good disc ,is it the same?

I have found sometimes it appears to be wrong and they work fine when changed.
Plus sometimes if you wipe the discs fully using a computer they will then work fine again [ may have to change the default on the drive for how it sets the disc type. [ i use benq drives that come with the software but others can do the same usually.]

I should point out that i dont have a philips but bni and yamada .
