RE: Philips DVDr610 BLOCKED message

Hi

I have a Philips 3480 that does the same ,I had a look at it and it seems to be the locking latch that does not always move far enough to allow it to open [ you can hear the motor trying].
I have found that a slight tap [one finger ] on the top of the machine either above the centre of the loading try or to the left hand side and press the eject button it will open and may work for awhile. [ The same happens on my old Liteon it it 5006 machine.
Chances are Philips use the same design on a few models so may help you get your disc out.
I even tried regreasing the slider lock but only a little better.[ The Benq computer drive of about 2/3 years ago uses the same locking design . [Not perfect either]

RE: Help Please...Adobe Flashplayer/Shockwave Player

Hi

If you can find the folder where the program is loaded , right click it and look at properties to see if it says anything about it coming from another computer and may be blocked. If so there should be an unblock button. [ give it a try.]

Hope this may help

RE: problems with asda freeview recorder

Hi

If the machine is in standby it may have a problem?
But if you are watching a program via the machine and it is a model that can pause live tv then its just saving the program just in case you pause or jump to the begining [ if available ] or record it to watch later which can be done on some makes of pvr. [ not all ].As to which the Asda machine machine can do ? [ see the manual ]

Hack for the Philips DVDR 3480

Hi

Have no disc in and draw closed

Select setup on the remote

Press the following keys slowly

5 0 1 8 0

The screen changes when the 8 is pressed showing the region as it [2] before.
the 0 changes the 2 to 0 which is multiregion then press the ok button on the remote.

It should now work.

I found this hack via google a few days ago and it works fine i have also got the latest software upgrade via the philips website burned on a disc and loaded on the machine ,no problems with that either.[follow the philips way of loading as written on the website] ps the disc must be finalised.

RE: WinTV USB 2 Personal Video Recorder under £40

Hi

If your just after a cheap usb 2 computer settop box that will record to the hard disc and have remote and the software check under tv cards at www.nemax.co.uk

The company is in Hull North Humberside off Hessle road.

The price depending if buying online around £15 made by Peak

I have one and it works well and is easier than the msi digi vox to setup.

I think this is a bargain? Hitachi CP-R55S LCD Projector for £234.99 at Ebuyer

Hi

I have had the machine since saturday and no problems at , all works fine.I should have got one ages ago.It works well with my laptop and its pen type settop box and my dvd player. The onboard sound i have not tried and iam using my hifi that has dolby surround and a Reflecta screen about 8 ft
Spec is 1500 ansi lcd [3] .4.3/16.9 Svga and 2.2 kg and has a remote for £234.99 and free delivery /extra for quick/sat .
A replacement lamp seems to be around £98/£135 online may be more local?
And does around 2000 hours may be longer on the lower setting.
You also get a padded carry case and the cables for power for here and 2 others for abroad and the cable for the computer. You dont get any audio cable or video /svideo cables.2 manuals and cd-rom [ not tried yet]
Very easy to setup and iam getting around a 78 inch picture at round 10/11 foot away set at its lowest digital zoomed out option.Has plenty of settings like keystone and adjustable feet on the machine and 3 picture presets plus ones you can set.
The picture has nice colour and evenly lite sceen and has tint control but have not needed to use them.It may not be the best projector but for the price i have not seen better yet.If you could change anything a scart would have been handy for connecting a settop box .

RE: Problems with Dvd burner ..............help please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi me again

Try the bit resetter in nero / or check that it is correct as that can have the effect of changing the drive to a cd-rom instead of dvd burner?
Other software call bit resetter [ book type ] usually you can change it back no problems either way.

RE: Problems with Dvd burner ..............help please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the drive is ok just a disc problem.
I have had simular when trying a dvd rw that has had a failed video record done on it and once wiped Fully it works fine again.
You also say you are using nero 6 ,are you using all the latest updates?See the nero website. [ long download ]

RE: Portable dvd player Goodmans 5ins lcd and next day delivery £50

Hi me again

The goodmans does have a coaxial socket and has spdif/pcm or raw options. It also has a switch that makes the video and audio sockets either input / output.
So is handy for connecting your digital camera to view video/photos on a slightly bigger screen or for game input if you wanted.
The battery life is about 2.5 hours .There are 2 head phone sockets as well. And you can either charge the battery while its connected to the player when its not running or connected to the batteries own connector.

Portable dvd player Goodmans 5ins lcd and next day delivery £50

Hi

I got the Goodmans from ebuyer the model is the GDVD 50 LCD with the accs ie battery / scart cable / ear phones 1 / mains adapter / lighter socket adapter / bag to carry it in [ basic] / remote control .
And have tried the machine with a region 1 and 2 and no problems they play fine.
The only problem was the battery at first only charged for 10 mins but after a few quick charges is now working fine.
Thre picture on the machine is not bad at all and the sound from the inbuilt speakers is a bit low but very good via ear phones or other speakers. And play back via another tv is as good as most dvd home players except for the lack of some functions like goto .
It will play vcd,s / most home recorded dvd,s /audio cd,s/ mp3,s / and photo discs with wipes.
Well worth a look if your after a smaller 4.3 screen model.

RE: External hard drive/ Mediaplayer?

Hi

Also have a look at the site www.aria.co.uk they sometimes have simular items.I have the [freecom ]network media kit 80 gig from SVP a while ago with a free drive at about £125.
It works fine no real problems as long as you dont try too higher picture quality then it may only work via the computer.I use the slyfox mobile dvd program to convert to divx for the machine as none of the other free ways seemed to work. And i use the default option in the program. [ 2 versions out now and while i have both not yet tried the beta with the faster converting ].I would if buying now look at the newer ones with the 2.5 inch drives as the machine will be alot smaller and lighter and may work out cheaper depending on the size drive you want.

RE: Mini-DV - Video capture problems

Hi

Iam suprised you are having capture problems as i use only either sempron 2400/2600 and each has 1 gig of memory and both fx 5500 graphics cards. The hard drives 1/ has 120 gig internal plus external and the other a 160 gig internal only. Both can capture to the internal drive freeview recordings and have the antivirus and other software in the back ground with no problems and the same for playback.
Are you sure you have the latest driver for the graphic card loaded and any drivers for your other card uptodate. It may be the software you are using is not a go match ,i would try another and see what happens.I have also found on one machine that changing to the latest windows player made the system more stable so that may help.

RE: Where to buy PC components?

Hi

Try
www.bigpockets.co.uk or www.starmount.co.uk or maplins or
www.morgancomputers.co.uk.

I had a maplin external and it failed after 18 months but the replacement from starmount is found everytime by the computer unlike the maplin i had.So for me the starmount is first option which you can get sometimes at i think bigpockets but not all the versions like firewire and usb2 in the one case so it depends which is best for you and the cheapest to buy when including p and p.

RE: Digital Multimedia Player?

Hi

I use one of the freecom external harddrive /media players that has the network option as well.
Have never used the network option but works fine as either an external hard drive or connect to the tv [ no computer needed ] and play any of the video or look at the photos or listen to the mp3,s.It can use the divx system to get more on the drive but have found the best software so far is Clonedvdmobile from slyfox .[A buy program but can get a free trial ] and use the generic option seems best.
Can play dvd,s that are copied across just like you have the disc in a dvd player.I got mine from bigpockets and at the time you got a free 80 gig drive.Has remote control of most things including matching the picture and sound to the tv.
I dont know anyone with the one you mention so cant say which is best .
The unit i have is a wired ,so comp/s/rgb connects needed [ phono /s plug ]
And external power supply [ smallish ]runs coolish as well.
