hi
my toshiba tv is non hdcp, what does this mean?how will it affect the connection of a dvd player via dvi-d?

It will prevent display of any content (on DVD) that has HDCP protection built into it or it may downscale it to a low resolution.
How many DVDs have this kind of protection is what you need to find out.

hdcp stands for high bandwith digital copy protection.not so much to do with dvds as a copyright transmitted with hd broadcast to prevent people making hi-def copies of their material.shoudn`t affect your dvd playback.

Chris is correct, you won`t see anything from a HDCP protected DVD if your screen is non-hdcp.

All dvd players with a DVI or HDMI output should add HDCP to the output, however, some can turn HDCP off (like the Samsung HD850 and 950)
