Page 1 of Sony DVD Player - Does anyone know anything about them???

I have 2 Sony DAV SA30 Home theatre systems.

My original player refuses to play, stop, fwd, rwd or even open the tray door. It powers up, the volume works, but thats it.

I decided to buy another player, real cheap and with a slight sound problem off of EBAY.
This player works fine except for the fact that the sound is non existent. The only noise ommited is a crackling/hissing effect. No actual movie dialogue played. Although, when i popped in an audio CD, it played the music, but still had the crackling noise.

Does anyone know A) What either of the problems could be, and B) is it possible to salvage at least one player out of the two knackered one`s?

I thought by buying the 2nd player, i could use it for parts if i knew what was what and how to "repair" it my original player.

I`m pretty desperate, so any help, advice would be much appreciated

So you bought a replacement player with a sound problem ?
That was a bit silly,wasn`t it ?
I could understand you "buying it for spares" if you knew what you were doing,but the fact you`re on here looking for help shows you don`t.
Complete systems are on ebay for around £30,so stop wasting your time and buy a whole new system. ;)

I`m not the one that bought a broken player off ebay then questioned the forum`s integrity when they couldn`t answer your vague question though,am I....? :/ :p

At what point in this exercise did you expect to gain the knowledge to "repair" the said DVD players. :/
