Amp & Speakers - Is this a good deal?
I`m looking for a good 1st cinema kit. I`ve looked at the Yamaha NV10 which seems to be well rated but can`t find anywhere online that has one to check out prices.
I have seen the Yamaha DSPAX620 for £289.95 and they have a speaker pack with Mission 702e (Beech)+ Eltax Monitor 3 + Eltax Symphony Centre for 239.95.
What is the better deal? Or is there any other good systems anyone can recommend.
Thx

The 620 is the the dog`s doodahs, so if you can, go for that - have a look on http://www.area450.co.uk in the home cinema section for reviews of the VS10 (is this similar to the NV10?), and the 620 (with a different speaker package).
I`ve been considering the 620 plus speaker package for a while too, and have found some good offers - 620 at the price you mention (although at http://www.hifijunkies.co.uk it`s only a couple of £ more, and they have a 5 year warrantee, and can do interest free credit - danger!). I also found the Mission M72 cinema pack (not floor standers, but got best buy up to £500 in the What Hifi awards this year) for £267 at http://www.qed-uk.com. Richer sounds were also doing an all Mission pack (Cinema 70 - with floorstanders, slightly older vintage, but still good stuff) for £249 - advertised in What HiFi - you may need to mention it to get that price.
I`d like to go for the M74 pack, but small children mean that I would prefer to get the speakers out of finger`s reach - my existing floorstanders (which are moving into a separate room/system) get leant on a lot.

RE: Amp & Speakers - Is this a good deal?
Thx for the advice.
I think I`ll be going for the 620 plus buying mission speakers with it - probably the M73 plus the M7C1 and M7DS.
Should be around £640 for the lot and scarily I may just pay it up and plan towards my next purchase - I really want a newer TV.
RE: Amp & Speakers - Is this a good deal?
Look at www.qed-uk.com for the speakers - they seemed to be the cheapest I could find, and though they don`t list the M73 and M74 packs (I have emailed them about this - they say that Mission don`t list them officially yet - I guess HifiBitz is offering them as a pack off their own back), they are cheaper for the individual items than HifiBitz`s "pack" price. I have bought from QED before - fine.
Also, don`t forget speaker cable - no bits of old string here, please. I`m tempted to use Ixos`s flat stuff with self adhesive tape for the rears - it`s meant to be pretty good stuff, and only 1.5 mm thick, so will hide nicely. I`m lucky in that I have some spare decent cable for my fronts.
Try hifijunkies again for cable - their prices are keen, and I think they do free delivery.

RE: Amp & Speakers - Is this a good deal?
Had a look at comparing the prices from both QED and HiFi Junkies and it seems HiFi Junkies may be slightly cheapers. I was going to buy the speakers as seperates and altho` HiFi Junkies are £12 more for the M73`s they are £17 cheaper for the amp.
Plus they are doing free delivery on all of the speakers and amp, they also all have a 5 year warranty whereas QED only supplies a 12 month warranty and you need to pay for the extra.
I probably need to ask about cable when I order as it`s not my forte, I`ll ask about the Ixo`s as it may be v.suitable (I`ve not got a long run for the speakers).

I bought my setup (RX-V620RDS, M74, M7C1, M7DS) from hifijunkies. I can`t recommend them highly enough (package and dealer!). I haven`t got a sub yet - although the M74s are amazing on their own! Come on Mission - where`s the M7AS that`s been "coming soon" for the past 3 months?
