low volume - amplifier any good?
don`t know if anyone has any suggestions(sensible please-I know holding the dvd player up to my ear helps, just makes it difficult to see the screen).
I have a personal DVD player. Due to an industrial caused hearing problem the volume is too low for me. Is there an amplifier or similar device which will boost the sound? Must be small otherwise defeats the idea of having a personal/portable dvd player.
Any info gratefully received
Bill

personal DVD player surely it wont be personal if you have the volume up so loud everybody else will be able to hear it... there is nothing worse than being sat on a train/bus or aeroplane with somebody else infliciting their taste in music/film on you... personal should remain personal!

Go with comfy headphones; not those irritating in ear things. If you get neodymium magnet ones they are louder and should play at a reasonable volume for you without breaking up.

I use headphones, although even then on some movies the volume can still be a bit low for me, thanks though for the suggestion.
It is just sometimes while the wifey does some shopping I watch a film in the car while waiting. Feel a bit stupid sat there with the headphones on!!
I don`t use it when other people are around

If you have a tape deck in your car, why not get one of those headphone jack to tape converters. they are only about 6 quid or something.
If not, try something like this

Philips SBA220 2 x 3W XSL Acoustic Portable Speaker System link here to amazon however i have found them as cheap as £19.99 http://www.currys.co.uk/ (normally £39.99) at currys... i bought a set recently in a a discovery store in Las Vegas for $39 and they are brilliant with an MP3 Player as they are two separate speaker so you get true stereo sound... when you go to currys site put in product code 635377 in search section
