What are the menus like on the Humax 9200T, are they like Sky +?

Do you need two aerials for input, or do you split a single aerial for two inputs, if so what do you buy to do this?

1 aerial, 1 input. The signal is split to the dual tuners internally.

I find the guide is better than sky in that you can still see the program on the top right of the screen , but you do get less channels at a time. Program info is available for now and next programs, but only on the channel you are watching. If you want info on other channels you need to use the guide. My bedroom basic freeview box can do now and next for all channels by using the scroll buttons

Recording a program is a case of highlighting it in the guide and pushing the enter button. A symbol then appears in the guide to indicate that program is set to record.

The list of recorded program is accessed directly by a key on the remote and is overlayed on top of the program you are watching. The opacity of the overlayed menus is customisable too.For some reason no program info is available until you actually play back the recording though.

When a recording is made the info for each program is saved. For example, I record Mission Impossible everyday and have the box setup to add 2 minutes to the start and end times. That means I get 2 minutes of those phone in quizes and the corresponding info. I have to FF to the start of M:I to get the info for that episode to see if I have already watched it. 5 US keeps repeating the same episodes for some reason.

The only thing really lacking is a series link. You can set the recording to repeat at the same time every day/week/month but it doesnt dynamically change for programs like Torchwood that move around in the schedules.

just talked my mum and dad into buying this, no need for split aerial, comes with 2 tuners built in, recorded 2 digi channels at the same time last night, very pleased with it :D

And you can watch a third channel if it is on the same multiplexer or something. It gives you the options of available channels if you press the enter button.

Humax and Topfield are the only 2 brands worth considering for twin tuner PVRs. You`ll love it!

As others have said, one aeriel needed. Fantastic bit of kit though, only thing missing is a DVD recorder.

hi...you seem to know a lot about this unit. posted a thread but with no a answers, wondered if u knew the answer....have a humax pvr9200t,. i have been turning it off (standby) but when switch on it takes a while for the guide to work properley so have to wait to see full list. can anyone tell me if it is best switched off (standby) when not being used or left on permanantly, or will this damaged hd

I leave mine on all the time. This is the third PVR type system after a DigiFusion I sold to a friend and is still going strong, and a Sky+ system that was working when I stopped subscribing, and not had any problems myself with a failed hard disk. Actually I think the most stressfull time and most likely time for a drive to fail, is when you startup and start it spinning.


AS an update to my post at the top with the screen shots, I installed the latest update and you now get 5 channels displayed in the Guide, and you can delete programs directly from the Recorded Programs menu now.

where did you get the update for 5 channels from???
